Growing up in the Canadian Armed Forces sparked a strong sense of community in Amanda at an early age; finding ‘home’ in many Military Family Resources Centres across Canada. As a youth, she was an active member of the Youth Advisory Committee at CFB Greenwood where she developed an  interest in the values of leadership and social  connection.

Following her graduation from Nova Scotia Community College,  Amanda has gained   a broad range of experience including public and donor relations, event promotion and management, data management, hospitality, and peer-to-peer fundraising support.  Before joining the YMCA team, Amanda worked as a Gift Processing Clerk and Donor Services Representative with the Canadian Cancer Society – NS Division here in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

In her spare time, Amanda enjoys reading, hiking, travel, and taking in the local music/art scene.  She currently volunteers with  United Way Halifax and the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
