Thank you to all parents, campers, and staff for an incredible YMCA Summer Day Camp season!

Community YMCA programs on hold until further notice:

  • YMCA Outreach fitness programs (Forever Fit, AIM, and Warm Water Aquafit)
As we ease into the month of September, we are working with our YMCA Health, Safety & Compliance Officer to ensure our YMCA Fitness Outreach Programs (Forever Fit, Early morning fitness, AIM & Warm Water Aqua) are safe for return under Nova Scotia Public Health Guidelines and an acceptable COVID operational plan is in place. A new registration system is currently being implemented as part of this plan as well. As this preparation work continues, these programs continue to be on hold, with the intent to re-open in the month of October.

Beginning Monday September 14, 2020, we will be offering our After School Program at our Community YMCA from the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Historically, this space has been used as a “Drop In” after school program. Due to the current pandemic, we have had to modify this program to be registration only.

We will offer lots of fun activities and a safe space for your child(ren) and/or teens to hang out.

Please note, teens are able to register themselves.

The program has been modified to strictly adhere to the Nova Scotia Public Health and Safety protocols and our internal YMCA Health and Safety protocols.

Located in the heart of Halifax’s North End and known as a community cornerstone, our Community YMCA engages and positively impacts hundreds of children, youth, and families. It’s where youth go to learn new skills, socialize with peers, and participate in meaningful activities that contribute to lasting personal and social change. The Community YMCA facility offers the community:

  • a large gymnasium housing two full-size basketball courts
  • a community kitchen
  • arts rooms
  • Youth Space
  • social areas where youth can relax and be themselves

The Community YMCA facility is also adjacent to a YMCA Nova Scotia Works Employment Centre and houses the administrative offices of YPHDCommunity OutreachYMCA Senior Snow Removal, and Big Cove YMCA Camp in their shoulder season. The Community YMCA is more than just a building, it’s truly the centre of our community. Each of our programs are community-focused, with the goal to engage and build each individual member of the community.  We invite you to visit the Community Y and explore our many programs and services.
