We help children in grades primary through six who are new to Canada with skills that will help them be successful in school.  These sessions are a great place for reinforcing what children are learning in school, in a more relaxed and playful environment. We offer a variety of learning opportunities through art, music, cooking, writing, games, and field trips.

We help children between the ages of 5-12 who are:

  • Permanent Residents
  • Canadian-born citizens born outside of Canada
  • Dependents of foreign nationals living in Nova Scotia that have received a Certificate of Nomination under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program

During Saturday Study Skills, your elementary student will focus on:

  • Practicing organization and study skills
  • Speaking, reading, writing and understanding English
  • Vocabulary building
  • Making friends

Saturday Study Skills is currently held at the YMCA Centre of Immigrant Programs  on Bayers Road as well as the Community YMCA on Gottingen Street.

Saturday Study Skills is available due to funding from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI).
