The YMCA Greater Halifax/Dartmouth requires that all Employees and Volunteers undergo Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sectors Checks, and Child Abuse Registry Checks. These checks are required due to the nature of the work we do and the clients we serve, they are a condition of your position and should be done in a timely manner.

For staff or volunteers who may come into contact with children, youth, or vulnerable adults, a Child Abuse Registry Check is required and can be initiated through Nova Scotia Community Services.
We recommend applying for your Child Abuse Registry Check first, as this process takes the most time.
You may apply in person for a criminal record check, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the following locations:
- Halifax Regional Police Headquarters

- Central Division (Community) Office
Halifax Shopping Centre, Mumford Road, Halifax - West Division Office
15 Convoy Run, Bedford
- East Division Office

Two pieces of identification with your current address must be provided at the time of your Check.
