Fitness for heart health!
Our goal at YMCA Change of Heart is to support those who are ready to take their first step towards a happy, healthy heart. Change of Heart is a fully accessible program designed to support those who want to focus on heart health, have experienced difficulties with their heart health, or are at risk of heart disease. It offers a structured fitness program that promotes balance and variety in a healthy lifestyle. During the class, we will engage in a shared physical and social space to develop in spirit, mind and body and build confidence in the skills necessary to improve individual health and wellbeing.
We welcome anyone who is considered low risk by their physician to participate. Those who have experienced a cardiac incident will be required to provide consent from a physician prior to participating. Our dedicated instructors are passionate and committed to supporting participants in achieving their short and long-term heart health goals. Each class is made up of four parts which focus on improving your aerobic fitness, balance, strength and flexibility:
- Warm up
- Low impact aerobics
- Muscular strength and endurance
- Stretching and relaxation
