As a leading charity, the YMCA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. This group of community volunteers provides vision, strategic leadership and stewardship for the Association. The YMCA Board of Directors meets regularly with an Annual General Meeting held every spring.

The YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth invites community-driven individuals to join our Board of Directors. This is more than a volunteer role; it’s a chance to impact lives and foster a vibrant, inclusive community.

Diversity & Inclusion: Seeking members who add lived experience and represent diverse communities, including Indigenous, Black, Racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, and persons living with a disability.

Specialized Skills: Looking for expertise in technology, resource development, health and wellness, or education.

Board Responsibilities: Board members engage in bi-monthly meetings, committee work, and contribute to policy and affairs management.

Term Commitment: Eligible for two three-year terms, with potential extension for those elected as Chair. Learn More
