John W. Lindsay YMCA Reported Confirmed COVID Exposure

The YMCA is committed to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment at all times. The safety of our members, participants, staff and volunteers is paramount and we will take all measures necessary to ensure that we are abiding by Public Health regulations.

Monday, November 23, 2020:

This afternoon, the YMCA was contacted by Nova Scotia Public Health to advise of a confirmed COVID exposure at the John W. Lindsay YMCA on Thursday November 19 between 7-8pm. It was reported by Public Health that the individual attended the 7pm Yoga class that evening.

All participants in the yoga class are being contacted by Public Health directly. Public Health is not concerned with transmission in any other area of the John W. Lindsay YMCA that evening and therefore will not be issuing a public exposure alert, at this time.

However, the YMCA remains committed to ensuring that, when contacted by Public Health of a possible COVID exposure or exposure to a confirmed case, that we inform our members, participants, staff and volunteers in a timely manner.

We encourage our members, participants, staff and volunteers to continue to practice social distancing, mask wearing and sanitization practices. And to remember to please stay home if you are feeling unwell or are experiencing any signs/symptoms of COVID-19.

If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, please call 811 for assessment. Please self-isolate until you receive 811 advice. Do not go directly to COVID-19 assessment centre without being directed to do so by 811.
